George Eliot once said, “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.”

Last week I heard the marvelous news that The Cumberland River Review nominated my poem, “When the moon tells us of losses” for a Pushcart Prize! I couldn’t be more humbled and more thrilled. It’s more than I could have imagined when I started sending poems out to journals just 4 months ago.

The lesson here is to try! That poem, and the four others that have been published in recent months, could easily still be sitting on my computer hard drive, and I could still be wringing my hands over them, tinkering and questioning whether they are good enough.

Jump! You might be surprised where you land.
